The epic history of PORTOFINO paper

I was searching for paper a very long time, as the surface has an incredible and powerful impact on the end result. Each artwork you make on a different surface will turn out differently.

Portofino is a smooth, hot-pressed paper.  It is made from 100% cotton fibres, weighs 300g/m2 and is acid and chlorine free and therefore resistant to discolouring. This paper has resistance against yellowing from UV rays, guaranteeing durability over the years and maximum yield of colour applied.

It is manufactured on a cylinder mould machine using felts of an exclusive Magnani 1404 design.

The Magnani paper mills date their origins back to the XV century, when the first settlers developed the mill along the banks of the Pescia river that was famous for it’s clear waters, an essential requirement for the production of paper.

Among the Magnani mill’s customers there was Napoleon Bonaparte that choose the mill to produce a special watermarked paper for the announcement of his wedding with Maria Luisa D’Austria.
